Henry's Gear

I sit behind a vintage 1970's Slingerland kit, with the exception of a 5" x 14" chrome snare drum made by Pearl.  All the drums have wooden shells, maple to be exact.  The kit consists of 22" and 20" bass drums, 8" and 10" concert toms and 12", 13", 16" and 18" closed toms.

My cymbals are all by Avedis Zildjian, with the exception of 12" and 20" genuine Chinese china types.  The Zildjians are a 6" 'A' custom splash, an 8" 'K' splash and two 8" 'ZHT' splashes, 9" Oriental Trash Splash, 10" 'A' Splash, a pair of 13" Quick Beat hi-hats, a pair of 13" New Beat hi-hats, one each 12",14" and 16" Oriental china trashes, 14" A Fast crash, 15" thin crash, two 16" 'A' medium-thin crashes, 16" rock crash, two 17" medium crash, 17" 'K' china, 18" 'K' crash-ride and 24" medium ride.

The assorted items in my toy box are glockenspiel, triangles, claves, maracas, ratchet, vibra-slap, wood block, various hollow and solid bar wind chimes, bell tree, 6" zil-bel, 9" ice bell, Burma Bell, Gong Sheet, Wind Gong, Chau Gong, Granite Blocks, Cricket, Flex-a-tone, Melodic Cowbells, Blast Blocks, Jam Bells, Jam Blocks and Tamborine.

As far as heads go I use Remo Powerstroke 3 coated dot on my snare.  Remo Blackdots on the concerts and Remo Pinstripes on the 12" and 13" closed toms and Powerstroke 3 on the 16" and 18" closed toms, with Evans Blue Hydraulic on the bottom of the closed toms, Remo Powersonic on the beater side of the bass drums and Evans Genera EQ3 on the other side.

Other equipment includes two Pearl Eliminator pedals, Pearl, Gibraltar and Drum Workshop hardware and Pro-Mark 5A drumsticks made from Japanese white oak.
